U.S., Argentina Seal USD30B Critical Minerals Agreement

(MENAFN) Argentina and the United States have finalized a strategic agreement on critical minerals, Argentine Foreign Ministry officials announced Wednesday.

The bilateral pact focuses on bolstering critical mineral supply chains through enhanced mining and processing collaboration, according to a ministry statement released following the announcement.

The accord emerged from a landmark Critical Minerals Ministerial event held at the State Department, where US Secretary of State Marco Rubio convened the inaugural session.

Both nations "reaffirm their strategic partnership and their commitment to developing a secure, resilient and competitive supply chain," the ministry stated.

Officials in Buenos Aires characterized the framework as a catalyst for Argentina's economic expansion and industrial development.

Argentina's mining sector generated $6.037 billion in export revenue during 2025, ministry data shows.

"Argentina is on track to increase its total exports to around $100 billion in the next seven years, with a growing contribution from mining, which could exceed $20 billion within that timeframe and reach more than $30 billion by the end of the next decade," the ministry projected.

The agreement positions Argentina as a key Western Hemisphere supplier of minerals essential for technology manufacturing, renewable energy infrastructure, and national security applications.
